Homemade Blueberry Pie Recipe

A wonderful treat to wind down summer with. Homemade Blueberry Pie.



If you have been following this blog and cooking along, this recipe should not come as a surprise. I love to bake pies and cobblers, and this homemade blueberry cobbler is no exception. :

I have a pumking Pie recipe as well as a Homemade apple pie recipe. This recipe is similar. Just breathe. Read the cooking instructions before doing it, and you got this.


Homemade Blueberry Cobbler Recipe


Ingredients



Blueberry filling

  • 1 cup blue berries

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 stick of unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup vanilla

  • A pinch of cinnamon


Cooking Directions For Filling

  1. In a medium saucepan, add all ingredients.

  2. Turn on low heat. Let cook for 15-20 minutes. (Until berries are soft)

  3. Keep covered.


Easy Pie Crust Recipe


What You Will Need:



  • 2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour

  • 1 Teaspoon of salt

  • 1 Teaspoon of sugar

  • 2 sticks of almost frozen unsalted butter (sliced into small pieces).


Cooking Instructions:


To make the dough for the pie crust, mix 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon each salt and sugar in a medium-size bowl. Cut 2 sticks chilled unsalted butter into pieces. With a pastry blender, cut in butter, working until mixture resembles coarse meal.

  1. (use 1/2 cup of Flour in case pie crust begins to stick)

  2. Add 4 tablespoons ice water; work with hands until dough comes together. If dough is still crumbly, add more ice water a tablespoon at a time (up to 4 more tablespoons). Do not overwork.

  3. To form the pie shell, roll the dough on a floured surface into a 14-inch round. Wrap around rolling pin and carefully unroll over a 9-inch pie plate.

  4. Use Butter to grease pie pan. Fit gently into bottom and side of pie pan. Use kitchen shears or butter knife to trim dough to a 1-inch overhang; fold under, and seal to form a rim.

  5. Crimp rim with fingertips and knuckles or use a fork.

Cobbler Assembly


With a strainer, drain the excess juice from the cooked down berries. Set juice aside.

Add filling into pie crust. Spread evenly. Add 4 Tablespoons of butter and 1/2 cup of sugar.

Roll out the extra pie crust. Cover up the filling pinch the dough on the rim to seal the cobbler. Make a design out of the remaining dough. Lattice style or leafs and flowers.

Use an eggwash

Cook at 425 F for 20-25 minutes.

Let cool 15 minutes.

Serve.
