Stress Free meat loaf recipe

Is Meatloaf a relevant dish? Or is it dated? A question some cooks and Chefs ponder.

For Context, Meatloaf became a staple of many Americans' diets during the Depression, because it helped home cooks extend precious protein farther than it might otherwise go so that more people could be fed with less meat. As time progressed, this dish has evolved. Instead of tomato sauce as the main topping of the dish, you can now use barbecue sauce or chimichurri. Meatloaf has become a reminder we all can do our part to help brighten someone's day.

I would consider Meatloaf a beacon of hope. The Depression has left an unforgettable imprint on the world. One wonderful thing that came out of it was the home cooks' ability to still nourish, and satisfy their devourers during such a perilous time.

Is meatloaf outdated? I would say no. Meatloaf can be anything you want it to be and can be a very filling dish for a good price. I grew up in a household where meatloaf was not regularly served. I did not find out about it until I was on my own, exploring my kitchen prowess.

My grandmother had always told me to be a great cook, one needed a good recipe index as well as creativity to make a recipe your own. The preparation for Meatloaf, for me, always depends on my consumers. If I know they enjoy Barbecue, I will make my Meatloaf more savory and sweet, with Vidalia onions and roasted garlic. If I know they are a more classic consumers. I make the meatloaf the traditional way with a chunky tomato sauce. Making sure to use white onions and celery in the loaf.

*Cooking tip

Use a cooking thermometer. Loaves should register 165 F degrees or higher when inserted for 5-10 seconds. If they do not, please cook a little longer until they do.

Prego sauce is a great topper.

This is one of those recipes people will swear it took you all day to make. You will love it because it is a healthy twist on a traditional meatloaf classic.
