I made it to TOP 5 Chefs in the 2023 Favorite Chef competition....
"Sadly, I did not advance into the quarterfinals of the 2023 Favorite Chef competition, hosted by Chef Carla Hall. No need to be sad for me. This is the beginning of a wonderful journey filled with fun, food, and love ahead. I was born with a passion for cooking, so it will only expand and evolve. I will also be releasing a cookbook soon. (Mid-August). I can't wait to share more awesome and equitable recipes with you all. Only better and better for me and you in 2023, and every year after. The family and friends' support was overwhelming, and I thank you for believing in me and voting for me. I will always and forever be your favorite chef."
2023 Favorite Chef Competition Results!
That was my concession speech after giving my all and not winning the cooking competition. The prize is $25,000 and a magazine spread in Taste of Home Magazine, and I would have loved the opportunity to do that, but I found myself realizing that this competition was so much more than me winning money and a magazine spread so that my blog would reach millions of readers. This competition was about me being able to know without a shadow of a doubt that I can do whatever I put my mind to. If I have confidence within myself. So many things in my life I have done out of desperation out of longing, but never self-confidence.
I am so proud of myself that words cannot express it. My children are proud of me. My mother and father are proud of me, and most of all when I look into the mirror I smile, not because it's fake, but because it's real. Competitions are very tricky, and some competitions it is okay to be cutthroat and to be relentless, but I feel like this particular competition was more about realizing that the only competition that I will ever have in this life is with myself. I will do good because I want to do good.
I will do badly because of my actions and no one and nothing can stop me if I put my mind to it. I hope that by watching me in this contest that you were inspired in some way shape or form to pursue your passion. Wether that be cooking, whether that be your family, or whether that be a hobby that you have you loved so much that you know that you would be able to make a living off of it. But the number one thing that I want everybody to know, is that living your life authentically, and being just yourself is enough. Had I never retired from my previous profession and decided I'm done with being someone else.
I just want to be me. I wouldn't have made Top five. Top Five out of 1000s of Chefs is still amazing. And that's another reason I can't be upset. I was chosen.
And that's a big thing. My mantra this year is the opportunity wouldn't have presented itself had I not been ready. So I hope that mantra will be used in your life as well. Because opportunities are presented to us because we are able and we are capable of doing it. I hope that you find the confidence and I thank you so much for always being my friend.
Thank you all for the support.
You're Good Thyme Gal
