Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with a Scoop of Joy from Good Thyme Gal

July 20th: Scoop Up Some Happiness ! It’s National Ice Cream Day!
Whether you're five or ninety-five, there’s something magical about a scoop of ice cream on a hot summer day. That’s why National Ice Cream Day, celebrated each year on July 20th, is more than just a treat, it’s a moment to pause and savor the joy in life. And here at Good Thyme Gal, we're all about celebrating food that brings people together, and this day does exactly that.
Why National Ice Cream Day Is Worth Celebrating

First declared a holiday by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, National Ice Cream Day isn’t just a marketing gimmick. it’s a reflection of one of America’s most beloved traditions. Ice cream is a unifier. It’s nostalgia. It’s celebration. It’s comfort. And most importantly, it’s accessible.
At Good Thyme Gal, we believe in creating joy through equitable, heart-centered cooking. We know food should be inclusive, affordable, and made with care, and there’s nothing more fitting than a dessert that can be whipped up with a few simple ingredients and enjoyed by all.
How Ice Cream Fits the Good Thyme Gal Mission
Our kitchen philosophy at Good Thyme Gal is rooted in flavor, nostalgia, and inclusivity. Ice cream checks every box:
It’s versatile. You can make it dairy-free, sugar-free, or nut-free to meet any dietary needs.
It’s equitable. Homemade ice cream costs far less than store-bought pints and can be made with pantry staples.
It’s memory-making. Ice cream isn’t just dessert, it’s a moment of joy, and we’re all about creating those moments in the kitchen and beyond.
